Our 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee
At Kentucky Gun Shop, we stand behind every firearm we sell. We carefully inspect and verify all inventory before shipping, and we partner only with reputable manufacturers. We want you to be 100% confident in your purchase.
What Is Covered
Our 30-day satisfaction guarantee covers:
- Manufacturing defects — If your firearm arrives with a defect caused by the manufacturer, we will arrange for warranty service or replacement at no cost to you.
- Incorrect item shipped — If we ship you the wrong firearm (wrong model, caliber, or configuration from what you ordered), we will cover all shipping costs to correct the error.
- Damage during shipping — All our shipments are fully insured. If a firearm is damaged in transit, we will file a claim and work to replace or repair the firearm.
- Items not as described — If a firearm significantly differs from how it was described on our product listing, we will make it right.
What Is NOT Covered
The following are not eligible for return or refund under our satisfaction guarantee:
- Fired firearms — Once a firearm has been discharged, it cannot be returned. This is an industry-wide standard and a critical safety and legal requirement.
- Used or modified firearms — Firearms that have been disassembled beyond field strip, modified, or show signs of use cannot be returned.
- Buyer’s remorse — Changing your mind about a model or caliber after receiving the firearm does not qualify for return. We encourage you to research thoroughly before purchase and to call us with questions at (502) 385-0294.
- Ammunition, accessories, and consumables — Ammunition, cleaning supplies, and other consumable products cannot be returned once purchased.
- Special order items — Firearms ordered specifically for you that we don’t normally stock are non-refundable unless defective.
ATF Compliance Note — Important
Under federal law, once a firearm transfer is completed through an FFL dealer and ATF Form 4473 is signed, the firearm is your legal property. This means that for the purposes of ATF recordkeeping and background check law, the transfer is considered final once the Form 4473 is complete and the dealer releases the firearm to you. Any return or exchange after this point must go through our FFL — you cannot mail a firearm directly back to us as a non-dealer individual. All return shipments of firearms must be handled by a licensed FFL carrier.
We will guide you through the proper legal process if a return is warranted. Never attempt to ship a firearm without following federal and carrier regulations.
Manufacturer Warranty Process
Most firearms come with a manufacturer’s warranty that typically covers defects in materials and workmanship. Warranty terms vary by manufacturer:
- Glock: Limited lifetime warranty on parts and labor for the original owner
- Sig Sauer: Lifetime warranty on all pistols, rifles, and accessories
- Smith & Wesson: Lifetime service guarantee
- Ruger: Lifetime repair policy
- Springfield Armory: Limited lifetime warranty
For manufacturer warranty claims, you will typically contact the manufacturer directly and ship the firearm to their service center. We can assist you in initiating warranty claims and provide documentation of your purchase to support the process.
How to Initiate a Claim
- Contact us within 30 days of receiving your firearm at [email protected] or (502) 385-0294.
- Describe the issue clearly — include photos if possible. Tell us your order number, the firearm model, and the specific defect or problem.
- Do not fire the firearm if you believe it is defective. Firing a potentially defective firearm can be dangerous and may void warranty coverage.
- We will assess the claim and advise whether to proceed via our return process or go directly to the manufacturer’s warranty department.
- Follow the return shipping instructions we provide. All firearm returns must comply with federal law and be shipped via a licensed carrier.
Defect vs. Buyer’s Remorse
We distinguish carefully between manufacturing defects and buyer’s remorse. A defect is a specific fault in the firearm’s construction that prevents normal, safe operation — a cracked frame, a barrel that won’t seat properly, a trigger that fails to reset. Buyer’s remorse is a general dissatisfaction — you wish you had bought a different caliber, you decided you don’t like the grip texture, or you found a lower price elsewhere after purchasing. We handle defects generously; buyer’s remorse does not qualify for return under our guarantee. When in doubt, call us before you buy — we’re happy to help you make the right decision the first time.
